Topex and Redline Communications deliver end-to-end IP solution for voice
04-05-2006
Solution combines Redline's RedMAX WiMAX products with Topex's Next Generation Network carrier class equipment. Bucharest, Romania, May 3 2006 - Topex, an innovative European company, pioneer in 3G devices and recognized provider of carrier class Next Generation Network equipment and Redline Communications, a leading world-wide provider of WiMAX broadband wireless access networks, today announce it will showcase an end-to-end IP solution for voice, video and data based on Topex' NGN equipment and Redline's WiMAX products at CERF in Bucharest Romania.
In this solution Topex brings its strong expertise in developing VoIP based network infrastructure equipment including softswitches and media gateways. Redline's suite of backhaul and last mile wireless network access products will support the IP solution. The voice & video switching, the interconnection with other networks and the customer premises equipment operate through Topex Next Generation Network equipment.
The core of Topex solution includes the proven, highly scalable, Topex multiSWITCH engine. Gateways between the IP and other landline or mobile networks are also included, alongside with Topex Double Wireless Routers. With its open architecture, Topex multiSWITCH provides WISPs great flexibility to develop custom solutions based on best-of-breed hardware and software components. The Topex Media Gateway family includes all major signaling protocols in the industry. They allow seamless interconnection between WISP and various TDM and VoIP networks through its multiple signaling and multimedia conversion features (SIP, H232, SS7, ISDN, R2). Therefore, WISPs can strategically integrate the solution within the existing core infrastructures. The Media Gateway family covers broad capacity scale starting from one voice channel up to multiple E1 trunks. Based on the success of Topex WiFi Routers for HSDPA and UMTS-TDD, demonstrated at CeBIT 2006, Topex integrates in the solution the WiMAX version of its WiFi router.
Working together, the two companies bring to the market a truly innovative solution and a valuable choice for all the players in wireless industry. It means an important development in broadband wireless access market and it is expected to generate significant interest among service providers and enterprises.
Kevin Suitor, VP Business Development Redline said: "Voice over WiMAX offers service providers a tremendous value proposition especially in emerging markets where copper infrastructure does not exist. Our joint solution provides an IP-centric voice solution that is highly scalable and provides a differentiated consumer experience."
The solution targets WISPs, WITSPs, operators and enterprises running landline or wireless networks. They have now a complete WiMAX triple play solution to respond to their demanding customer needs. Due to the high scalability of Topex NGN infrastructure, this end-to-end WiMAX communication solution is ideal for business positioned to grow.
Dan Adamescu, CEO Topex said: "Considering the actual move of the operators towards IP-based wireless solutions for integrated voice, video and data communication, we believe that Topex and Redline Communication bring on the market the right solution at the right time. The long years of successful practice of both companies confirm the first-rate quality of the entire solution."
The solution will be demonstrated from 3rd to 7th of May, at CERF 2006, the main IT&C trade fair in East European Region.
Redline's WiMAX Leadership
Redline's certified WiMAX products enable both fixed and nomadic wireless broadband connections and include the RedMAX carrier-class Base Station (AN-100U) and RedMAX Outdoor Subscriber Unit (SU-O), which are based on the IEEE 802.16-2004 WiMAX technology and incorporate the Intel® PRO/Wireless 5116 broadband interface. Redline's RedMAX products also include the user-installable Indoor Subscriber Unit (SU-I), and a suite of WiMAX products based on the IEEE 802.16-2005 standard for mobility.
TOPEX policy concerning EU Directives RoHS and WEEE
27-04-2006
TOPEX is currently in a process of eliminating lead from the technology used for manufacturing electronic equipment. This process is connected to the ongoing actions in the European electronics industry, actions that aim to the elimination of lead form the electronic equipment and devices. The purpose of these actions arise form concerns toward the environment
For Topex, the elimination process means mainly:
-the identification in the various offers from suppliers of components that are compliant
to the RoHS directive
-implementing a new manufacturing process, which should use components and alloys
without lead
The products manufactured by Topex will fulfill the conditions stated by the RoHS European Directive and by the Government decision HG 992/25 august 2005. These documents limit the usage of the following hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment: polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE), respectively lead, cadmium, mercury and hexavalent chromium.
The TOPEX company, concerned about the quality of the environment, is strongly committed to manufacture electronic equipment according to the European directives such as RoHS (2002/95/EC) and WEEE (2002/96/EC) and conforming to the corresponding national laws and regulations (HG 992/25 august 2005, HG 448/19 may 2005).
In order to achieve this, TOPEX appointed in June 2005 a team dedicated to this project. This working team implements the procedures required in order to fulfill the European Directives and the corresponding national laws or regulations.
The WEEE directive concerning wastes from electrical and electronic equipment is directed to the manufacturers, distributors and recoverers of electronic equipments and products and its purpose is to reduce potentially hazardous wastes resulted from electronic equipment.
Topex intends to follow these directives that are compliant to the European and national legislation that deals with this subject. Thus, the TOPEX company become strongly committed to minimize the environmental impact of all its products.
The only products excepted will be the ones who absolutely require a high degree of reliability in the applications (equipments for infrastructure of networks for switching, transmission and for management of communication networks) according to art .7 of the Annex to the RoHS Directive and article .7 of the annex to HG 992 regulation.
All the processes that TOPEX has started with the intention of complying to the European directives RoHS and WEEE, respectively to national laws and regulations (HG 992/25 august 2005, HG 448/19.5.2005) are currently ongoing and they should be finished by the 1st of July 2006.
