Position Overview Statement

The R&D Project Manager manages software and hardware development projects which are executed within the Product House for specific contracted customer projects. He/She will be the main interface to the R&D Development organization for the specific contracted customer projects. The R&D Project Manager responsibilities include the coordination and completion of development projects on time, within budget and within the scope of the specific customer project. The successful candidate will work directly with the Product House, PMO, System Design, Systems Engineering and Sales to achieve these objectives.
He/She sets deadlines, assigns responsibilities and monitor and summarizes the project progress.
He/She prepares reports for upper management regarding status of project.
He/She will identify new talent as needed to fulfill the project needs.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities 

In this role, you play an important role in the system development cycle, supporting the development task identification and directing the activities of the development team. This role requires excellent attention to detail, as you frequently need to examine customer needs and customer requirements and translate them into development estimates, development requirements and tasks that shape project development.

  • Analyze and understand customer requirements (tender and project qualification phase);
  • Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility;
  • Participate in clarification and project meetings with customer locally or abroad;
  • Support the definition of high-level system, hardware and software requirements;
  • Develop a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress and elaborate Project Development Plan;
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation;
  • Develop spreadsheets, diagrams and process maps to document needs
  • Follow up delivery of other development artifacts like: System Requirements Specification, System Architecture, System Interfaces, System Test Plan, User documentation, System Features, How To’s, Traceability Matrices etc in support of the respective Development Project;
  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects;
  • Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget;
  • Deconflicts any schedule conflict with other development projects with the R&D Manager and relevant stakeholders to successful project completion;
  • Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs using appropriate verification techniques;
  • Measure project performance using appropriate identified indicators and techniques;
  • Report and escalate to management as needed;
  • Manage the relationship with all stakeholders;
  • Perform risk management to minimize project risks;
  • Track project performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short and long-term project goals;
  • Meet estimated efforts objectives and adjust project constraints based on the appropriate collected data;
  • Use and continually develop leadership skills;

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems / Electrical / Information Technology or equivalent;
  • Proven working experience in sw/hw development project management;
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or in the process of gaining certification within the next six months;
  • Ability to analyze requirements to ensure scope is being met on projects;
  • English – Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Proven experience in Engineering, in particular on Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Operational Analysis, Requirements Analysis, System Design, Human Factors Engineering and Interface Management would be beneficial;
  • Preferred industry experience in: Telcom, VoIP, Linux, Networking;
